We would like to reassure you: Pink Gellac does not contain TPO. Our formulas are carefully developed and fully comply with European cosmetic regulations. This way, you can continue to enjoy our colors and the quality you’re used to—worry-free.
TPO is a photo initiator, an ingredient that makes gel polish cure under UV or LED light. Starting September 1, 2025, TPO will be banned as an ingredient in cosmetics within the EU. From that date onward, products containing this substance may no longer be sold or used on the European market.
We already started phasing out TPO in 2021, and since 2022 all of our at-home products have been TPO-free. Until 2024, we did still sell our PRO product line, intended for professional use and recognizable by the clear PRO logo on the label. These products did contain TPO.
TPO has been used as an ingredient in cosmetics for many years. When used correctly, there is no significant health risk. Nevertheless, we support every precautionary measure in cosmetic legislation and advise against using these (outdated) products. If in doubt, we recommend checking the label for the full ingredient name: Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide (not to be confused with Trimethylolpropane Trimethacrylate or Ethyl Trimethylbenzoyl Phenylohosphina).
If you have any questions about our ingredients or the safety of our products, our customer service team is always here for you.
